Scholarships are "free money" generally awarded based on merit and are not paid back.  Although UC (like other Midwest schools) do not have Waterski specific scholarships, there are a number of ways to apply for University of Cincinnati scholarships.

 

Here are some of the Scholarships available for UC students…  

  • Cincinnatus Scholarship
    Requirements: Along with a minimum 3.0 unweighted high school grade point average, must meet one of the following requirements: top 5% of class, ACT composite of 26, or SAT combined score of 1170
    Money: Ranges from $1,500 annually up to full tuition, room and board, and a book allowance for the length of undergraduate program
    How to Apply:
    Application for admission, transcript, and test scores must be received by January 15th of senior year; additional information sent to incoming students who meet criteria

  • Darwin T. Turner Scholarship
    Requirements: Incoming freshman; academic performance; ethnic minority
    Money: Ranges from $1,000 to full tuition, fees, and books
    How to Apply: Through
    UC Office of Ethnic Programs & Services (513/556-6008) by February 1 of senior year

  • Christos P Demakes Legacy Scholarship
    Requirements: Lineal descendant (child or grandchild) of a UC graduate who is a member of the UC Alumni Association; based on academic achievement, service and leadership
    Money: Varies
    How to Apply: Apply through the
    UC Alumni Association (513/556-4344) by April 1

  • Ohio Academic Scholarship
    Requirements: Incoming freshman; Ohio resident; academic record; national test scores; full-time enrollment
    Money: $2,000; renewable three times
    How to Apply: through high school guidance counselor

  • Ohio War Orphans Scholarship
    Requirements: Undergrad child of a deceased or severely disabled veteran who served in wartime or Desert Storm/Shield conflict; full-time enrollment
    Money: Tuition
    How to Apply: Through the
    Ohio Board of Regents (888/833-1133) by July 1

  • Ohio National Guard Scholarship
    Requirements: Must meet requirements of Ohio National Guard for tuition benefits
    Money: Tuition
    How to Apply: Contact local recruiter or
    Ohio Adjutant General Dept (614/336-6000) by July 1

  • ROTC Scholarship
    Requirements: Must meet established academic, medical, and physical requirements
    Money: Ranges from $3,000 up to full tuition, fees, and books
    How to Apply: Contact
    Air Force ROTC (513/556-2237) by November 1; contact Army ROTC (513/556-3660) by December 1

 

Scholarships are available from many sources including high schools, places of worship, civic groups, and parents' employers. We recommend that you also check with your high school guidance counselor, the reference section of your library, and organizations in your hometown.

AWSEF (American Water Ski Educational Foundation) also have waterski related scholarships you can apply for…

Eligibility Requirements:  

  • • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at a two (2) or four (4) year state and/or nationally accredited college, incoming sophomore through incoming Senior.
    • U.S.A. Citizenship
    •  Current active member of USA WATER SKI: AWSA-ABC-AKA-WSDA-NSSA-NCWSA-NWSRA-USAWB-USHA
    Application:
    • Two (2) letters of reference
    •  A 500-word essay (no less than 450, no more than 550) on topic:
     "Given the recent economic challenges, what enhancements would you make to USA Water Ski's Grass Roots Program?"    
    • An official transcript of grades.  If applicant is a college freshman, include both official college transcripts and official high school transcripts.
