UC Takes 5th place at Nationals

UC Waterski Team 2009

The UC Waterski Team made it back to Division II Nationals this year in Arvin, California.  The team made a strong appearance placing fifth overall after travelling across the country.  Day one was jump for both men and women.  The girls, Casey Thress and Laura Boehm, made a good show by holding the team breathless as both landed their third and final jumps.  The men did an awesome job placing second in jump, with 4 of 5 jumpers achieving personal bests.  Chris van Treese led the jump team with a 104 ft jump followed close behind by Brad Ruff with 102 ft and James Russo with 89 ft.  Day two was slalom starting with the men.  Corey Clausius started off the day with a personal best of 4 at 30 mph and Chris Van Treese finished the men’s event with another personal best of 3 buoys @ 28 off.  The women followed the men, with 4 getting personal bests to place third overall.  Kacy Clifton got 2 buoys @ 26 mph and Jacklyn Woniger set a new school record for women’s slalom with 5.25 buoys @ 32 mph! The final day finished the tournament with the women taking fifth and the men taking fourth in trick.  Kacy Clifton led the women with 890 points for a second place finish, while Chris Van Treese led the men also achieving a second place finish.  For individuals overall, Chris came in fourth place for the men.  It's been a fun 2009 season and we'd like to thank all of our sponsors, parents, coaches, and everyone else who helped us throughout the year!
